 Reliability and Relevance

The two most important criteria for evaluating websites for me are reliability and relevance, as these are the two areas where there are the most problems with online sources these days, particularly when used for educational purposes, and some of the information on the internet is inaccurate. For reliability, it is very helpful for students to dig deeper to determine if the information is accurate and if the source is trustworthy or not. More importantly, do research on the origin of the information to make sure it comes from the right source and has the right author. The other important criterion is relevance. This is applicable for school purposes; when doing project research on a specific topic, students must consider whether they need the information they found on the internet for their topic or not. How relevant is the information for their research, and does it really help contribute to their school project or not? An example: some points from the internet are not really relevant to the topic and may not be accurate, so it is important to look for the reliability and relevance of the information.

  1. Reliability is one of my favorite because I wouldn't want to waste my time using a source that is not accurate and reliable. This will not only affect my grades but I would be sharing false information with others including myself. Great insights Mele!

  2. I totally agree with reliability and relevance being the most important for evaluating websites. We want websites that give correct information that applies to what we are learning. These are important when considering resources. Thanks for your thoughts!

Blog 1: Using Technology

Blog 1 Prior experiences using technology My very first-time using technology was so difficult for me. I couldn't figure out how to use it until I played around with it and became acquainted with it, as well as with the assistance of others. It was extremely relaxing knowing how useful technology is and being able to understand how it works. My first encounter with the iPhone, for example, was difficult because I had to use my Apple ID and remember it in order to gain access to the device, and there were many more things for Apple devices, such as keeping it updated to the latest software. However, as I experimented with technology and learned how various devices work, I became acquainted with and gained background knowledge for the future use of new devices. Hope to learn from this class My hope to learn from this class is to be able to gain knowledge on how certain technology works that can be used effectively in future teaching. I also wanted to get familiar with this use of te...

Blog 3: Personal Learning Network

What does it mean to be a "connected" instructor? To be a connected instructor, you actively participate in the global learning environment, which helps develop a personalized network for professional learning. A well-connected teacher allows others to see his progression, suggestions, and ideas in a specific field, especially in the area of education. It kept tracking down records on your improvement and that other colleges or students may learn or add their ideas to what you've contributed on your side. It helps you stay engaged with your students and collaborate more on the idea of learning, like digitally adapting to some inevitable changes or other relevant things that can help the students. Should instructors and students have PLN?  On a worldwide online (or offline) platform, a personal learning network is a group of people who share their innovations, questions, and solutions. It serves as your very own support system, allowing you to develop and learn from othe...

  1) Khan's vision of personalized learning I agree with Khan's vision of personalized learning because it contributes to a strong foundation for students learning. There may be disadvantages to this strategy, but I think it will be helpful for kids learning to do independent study at their own pace in and outside the classroom. For example, Khan offers instructional videos and exercises for students to empower their learning in whichever area they may try to tackle—math, science, etc. With Khan's vision, it provides a focus on skills that will make learners adapt to it and apply it to their learning. 2) Google Classroom I liked about every feature in Google Classroom, such as the ability to create announcements, assignments, quizzes, etc. The most important is that teacher can monitor students work, keep track of their progress, and be able to provide help when students need it. Another feature is schedule post in advance and can be reuse post to multiple classes which is...
